About Whipps, Inc.

Founded in 1977 by George Whipps and engineers with long experience in the design and manufacture of sluice gates, slide gates and related water control equipment, Whipps, Inc. has steadily increased its market share by producing equipment of high quality and high performance at a competitive price.

The company is located in Athol, Massachusetts approximately 70 miles west of Boston. Equipment such as slide gates, sluice gates, hand-pull stop gates, stop logs, flap gates, shear gates, tilting weirs and telescoping valves are produced at the company headquarters in Athol.

Equipment manufactured by Whipps Inc. has been provided for projects in all 50 states in the United States as well as numerous overseas projects in countries such as Egypt, Kenya, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkey, China, the Philippines, United Arab Emirates and others. These orders have ranged in size from one or two small gates up to several dozen large gates with complex operating systems.

Among the sales and engineering staff at Whipps, Inc. are design and applications people with more than 150 years combined experience in the water control equipment industry. Several gate-related patents held by the company (and some assigned to others) attest to the fact that product innovation has been, and will continue to be, the cornerstone of the company's success. In 1983, Whipps Inc was listed as one of Inc. Magazine's 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies.
